Liam Harden is a figurative oil painter born in 2002 in Chicago, IL. and raised in Athens, GA. He is currently pursuing his BFA in Fine Arts at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA and is expected to graduate in the Summer of 2024.
Harden’s paintings combine the use of 3d modeling software and traditional oil painting techniques to create an eerie semblance of naturalism. His typical subject matter is drab interiors, often with surreal animal figures occupying these spaces. A focus on authentic light and shadow, combined with limited palettes of earth tones lends a sense of familiarity and mundanity to the scenes.
His work has been shown in the Hillside Student gallery at ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, California as well as the show Present at the same institution. Harden has received the ArtCenter UG Scholarship from 2021-2023 and the San Marino League Fine Art Scholarship in 2023.
