This project focuses on studying one historical design movement and applying those elements into designing a cover for a contemporary artist. The historical movement is Punk (the 1960s - mid-1970s) and the artist is Blackpink because it is often portrayed as girly. Since Punk is a rebellious movement, putting opposites together can create an interesting contrast. This is an analog design, created through cut and paste to replicate the Punk collage style, and scanned into a digital workpiece.
Learning Outcomes:
The emotion of Punk cannot be achieved unless one embraces the rebelliousness of making art through analog and the imperfectness of tearing papers. Also, one has to not be afraid of creating an ugly image or ruining a beautiful picture. Although punk is no longer mainstream, and the style is not timeless, Punk was a refreshing movement that allowed me to push out of my comfort zone.
