MFA in Graphic Design - 3 Yr Path — Graduate Graphic Design
Course:
GPRT-308 Archetype Press
A to Z: M for Magenta
In project called "A to Z", each student in all Archetype classes chose a letter of the alphabet to create a print with the definition of one word with that letter. The word must relate to design and/or printing. The goal was to get familiar designing for letterpress, which includes setting metal type, printing with a proofpress, and mixing ink to create a small edition that will contribute to a larger class edition. By the end of the project, I created an edition of 25 prints.
Learning Outcomes:
Through this project I was able to work on my craftsmanship abilities and immerse myself into the analog design process, getting away from the screen and softwares for a moment and doing the process by hand. I was also able to dedicate myself to color mixing and exploration.
