Ice Obsession

I tried to make different versions of the book cover, leveraging the idea of my obsession with ice. It is the same topic as my CD1 class, in which I focused on my secret obsession. I made ice cube illustrations and combined them with authentic ice images that I took. I tried to make them harmonize well. I changed the composition and concept to create different versions of designs.
Learning Outcomes:
It was challenging for me to combine illustration and image since adjusting the color balance was difficult to make them natural. However, I thought it was a great opportunity to try a different method to describe my story with illustrations and images. I also played around a lot with the composition.

I stacked ice cube illustrations and authentic ice images in the cube shape border lines. I wanted to deliver that I am collecting ice elements in my own box to keep them. Therefore, it showcases my obsession with ice with the composition and the way I expressed it. Thus, it seems like the book has a unique story to tell.

I designed a cube house by connecting the various forms of the ice cube. A girl who is going up the stairs is representing me. It describes I am living in an icehouse since my main idea is obsessing with ice and cold temperature. The design has a somewhat mysterious and dreamlike feeling with the composition of the icecubes and gradient circle at the back, which might draw readers' attention.

I applied one of my designs to mockup.
