An original work of writing in response to Gary Kornblau's pre-class assignment for HCRT-303-01 | Detention Hall: Philosophy Lab, and which was due Week 1. Kornblau wanted us to "talk back" the way Bell Hooks talks about in her essay "Talking Back". I wrote a letter addressed to Kornblau himself, expressing my intense dislike for the assignment which evolved into a larger essay regarding the performance of radicality in a culture of narcissism.
Learning Outcomes:
I care a lot about authorship, even more than the design itself. My relationship to design changes when I'm also the creator of the material I'm designing for. The entire project becomes more like a singular, embodied expression or an artful act.
