Onyx

For this project, I created a serif typeface with inspiration from multiple typefaces such as Times New Roman, Bodoni, and Baskerville. I also designed a poster to showcase the characteristics of the typeface. I wanted to make a poster based on a movie in which I think the characteristics would shine through and feel like it belongs with the genre of the movie.
Learning Outcomes:
I came to learn just how different font design to what I originally thought it was. Designing a typeface is not about making it crazy and interesting to look at, rather it's about the functionality of the type. I also learned that every typeface has a base no one creates from nothing and it's necessary to have a basis for the design process.
