Method Sexy

This project acts as a bridge between two worlds, kawaii goth culture and Marina Abramović to create a one-of-a-kind zine with visuals that embraces both sides of performance art and kawaii art. As the zine progress, the two sides slowly become more intertwined with each other visually. Other aspects of subcultures such as ASCII art were also used as a design element to further highlight kawaii goth culture.
Learning Outcomes:
I learned a lot about kawaii goth culture and its niche subcultures. Reading about how Hello Kitty became the face of a culture that grew as a form of resistance against the norm that kawaii culture had to be only cute and bubbly was quite entertaining. My instructor also encouraged me to tap further into kawaii goth culture by looking the part and so I did. I felt more comfortable diving into other niche subcultures and experienced how thrilling it is to design with passion and interest.
