F.Y.I. Sans
As a self-proclaimed aesthete, I am someone who needs to frequently remind herself that in design, aesthetics do not reign supreme. In an attempt to focus more on function, rather than pure beauty, I designed a typeface that is to be used to communicate important information at a quick pace, and at any scale. The legibility and condensed form of F.Y.I Sans paves the way for varied applications; namely, as a typeface for: way finding , instruction manuals, warning signs, and fine print.
Learning Outcomes:
Following the creation of this typeface and the completion of the course, I can confidently say that I... 1. Have an increased appreciation for the rigorous work that type design entails. 2. Am able to identify and differentiate typefaces much more rapidly. 3. Learned how to use Glyphs, a font-design software program. 4. Am able to appreciate the seemingly-invisible details of minimal, functional san-serifs. They can be just as "beautiful" as a script typeface you'd see on a wedding invite.
