Cicada (You told me once that changing is a sort of death)

oil on canvas over panel 40” x 38” A cicada perched on the wall of a bare room. On a chair there is a molted shell. Composed using photogrammetry scans and sculpted 3d models, from a reference image taken in my family home in Georgia.
Learning Outcomes:
The main thing I learned from this project was how to model curtains using transmission shaders, how to paint them in oil, and how this soft, natural light effects the tone and atmosphere of an image.
