Mixed Signals

“Mixed signals” proposes a dynamic, interactive filter into an ambient, media ecology. With simple gestures, viewers can alter the populations – casts – of streaming media. Inspired by the Bechdel-Wallace test, which evaluates gender representation in media, it exposes the inequities through dynamic erasure, transformation, or emergence of movies, series, or news broadcasts. it aims to prompt viewers to reevaluate their viewing habits and the embedded gender inequality it seeks to expose.
