Vinyl Record

Create an album cover for a vinyl record based on the movement at the time of our choosing. Select an artist that doesn't match that movement style. The movement I selected was psychedelic using Bonnie Maclean as my reference and Daft Punk as my artist.
Learning Outcomes:
Illustrator is a traitor. That meaning it is useful in certain aspects but with this project, everything looked flat when done in illustrator. I learned sometimes hand-drawn and messy art can be for the best.
Image
My initial sketches for the project, where I had the idea of plants, twisting and growing. Using Bonnie Maclean and Victor Moscoso as references. I moved more towards the flowery sketch in the corner in order to make something too scary but also not too friendly and childish.
Image
For one of my first sketches, I had a more towards a bubbly animated direction, to show a more hallucinogenic cloudy look.
Image
For my first digital rendition where I used illustrator to create a flat image. I was proud of it at first but understood it looked flat with more of a geometric industrial look making it feel like someone from the current modern era mimicking the 1970s.
Image
I redesigned the sketches after receiving feedback and looking more into art nouveau as a reference as well.
Image
A continuation of my sketch using tracing paper to make layers in the case I didn't like the look.
Image
A layer with text hand drawing the bigger letters to look more organic and flawed.
Image
Finally, a digital rendition through photoshop using the brush tool.
Image
Using hue and saturation in photoshop to find a color that works.

The final copy I turned.

After receiving feedback on my work I made some adjustments to the color and added a texture to make it look dated.
