Remembrance of Things Past Posters

For Type 4, we were create a hypothetical group exhibition build around a theme or an artistic movement of our choice. This focuses specifically on the posters created for the exhibition. For further process, please check the first part. My hypothetical exhibition was about Classic Mythology expressed throughout time. Classical Mythology has been expressed since the early years of the Renaissance all throughout modern times.
Learning Outcomes:
For the project part specifically, there were multiple factors that helped me develop and learn new things as a designer. As this was a hypothetical exhibition, I had to think critically on how to make an impactful poster that the audience would engage in yet visually relate it to the theme of my book as well. Considering those factors into mind, I created a poster series in two different styles, one as a "window" to my exhibition and the other one with excerpt quotes.

Below is the poster section of my hypothetical exhibition, "Remembrance of Things Past."

I chose to do two different distinct styles for my posters. I wanted to create a general poster that would showcase some of the artwork from the exhibition as shown through the 1st and 3rd posters. These posters mimic a "window" to the exhibition, referencing the audience and the relationship to using this exhibition as a window to take a look at the past to present. The 2nd and 4th posters are more specific posters that focus on the specific artwork and specific quotes from the tale related along with the different tales that would be featuring in the exhibition.

These were a few poster explorations that I tried originally. I wanted to try pure type focused posters along with experimenting with the "window" idea I had in mind. As shown, the final poster went through multiple revisions regarding scale , such as sizing of the images and thinking about how I wanted to portray the general exhibition posters along with more specific posters.

One of the original thought processes and brainstorming that I did to think of this exhibition. I used a brain map to guide how I can specifically focus on the themes such as divinity, human nature, reflection, and etc., which all helped me guide the typographic moves and design process throughout the weeks.
