Hollow Body: an exhibition on bioart
Bioart is an art practice that works with living tissues, bacteria, and oftentimes the body. Bioartists present the viewer with the uncanny to ignite a deeper contemplation of humanity and ethics. The of the book embodies the message of the exhibition as the pages are contained with no structured cover. The text is flimsy and exists within a clear acrylic box that acts as hollow body. Within the book, I developeed a fluid but structured system to convey the science and poetics of bioart.
Learning Outcomes:
Book development and production, typography, research. This was my first time creating a book! I built and engraved the acrylic box as well as bound the book myself.
