UFOLOGY

UFOLOGY is a series of prints created using the screen print, intaglio, chine collé, and Nazdar transfer processes. The series explores nostalgia, cassette futurism, and of course, Un-identifiable Flying Objects (UFOs.)
Learning Outcomes:
I learned how to separate my work into flat layers, work with small layer limits, sand then etch a plate, emulsify a screen, mix ink colors with accuracy, register paper, create natural patterns with dithering, apply a cine collé to an existing intaglio print, and finally, how to use nazdar chemicals to transfer a printed image onto paper.

Civilians Guide to UFO's is a two layer split fountain screen print. The majority of the UFOs pictured are inspired by descriptions of sightings or UFOs from pop culture. The bottom left for example is inspired by Esther Pearl Watson, a fine artist who frequently features UFOs in her work..

Everyone's Favorite is a nazdar transfer collage.

Distracted is a nazdar transfer collage. It's about how difficult it is to focus when UFOs occupy your mind (I've been there.)
Image
Tailgaiting is a nazdar transfer collage. It's about wanting to get away via spaceship. It's still cheaper than Uber believe it or not.

Half Pipe is an metal plate engraving intaglio print with a gradient chine collé underneath.
