The Left Behind

The Left Behind is my 14-week senior project, where I developed character designs and story beat illustrations for an original solar-punk narrative. Set in the ruins of a forgotten world, the story follows a group of explorers who destroy a humanoid bot devoted to embracing the end—only to realize, too late, that its death was not the end, but the beginning of the doomsday it was programmed to await. Learning Outcomes:
Through this project, I learned how to manage a self-directed schedule, build a narrative world from the ground up, and design non-traditional characters driven by abstract motivations. It challenged me to think deeply about storytelling through visual development and pushed me to balance creative ambition with production discipline.

The Poster of this project
In a post-apocalyptic world, a group of survivors—strange, otherworldly creatures—wander through the ruins of a long-forgotten civilization.
Amid the wreckage, they discover a dormant humanoid robot, standing alone among the debris. Intrigued and wary, they attempt to reactivate it.
The robot awakens, identifying herself as The Left Behind. With an eerie calm, she recounts her origin and reveals her purpose: to witness and fulfill the world’s true doom.
Through fragmented memories, we glimpse her past—a lone scientist encoding the doomsday protocol into her system, believing the end would hold the ultimate answer.
Horrified by her intent, the survivors choose to destroy her, believing they've stopped the threat.
But as they celebrate her destruction, a silent countdown continues—the doomsday program is still running.
