Irreplaceable

The spirit of a recently deceased cat must get his owner's attention before she throws away all the memories of the life they had together

Process:

"Irreplaceable" is my hybrid animation capstone project. The themes of pet-loss, grief, and identity shift are deeply personal to me and the journey of developing this short has been both educational and meaningful. The process of "Irreplaceable" started in Spring 2024 in Capstone Pre-Production 1 as we developed our story and pitched our idea to a panel of judges. In Fall 2024, in Capstone Pre-Production 3, we developed concept art and a look of picture. In Spring 2025, in Production 1, we developed assets and completed our initial layout. In Fall 2025, we tackled animation and compositing.

Learning Outcomes:

With "Irreplaceable" being a hybrid film, there were all sorts of things that we learned. I personally developed my skill of compiling assets into Unreal Engine.
