Meta Oculi is a wearable mobility system designed to help visually impaired commuters travel more safely and independently. The system combines smart glasses and a LiDAR wristband: the glasses handle passive, wide-area obstacle detection and provide voice + vibration cues, while the wristband supports active exploration like an extended cane for locating nearby objects and edges. A companion phone app processes navigation and camera-based scene understanding, and can optionally connect to a caregiver app for backup support in difficult situations. By translating city signals (like APS crosswalk cues) into a clear, learnable haptic language, Meta Oculi aims to deliver guide-dog-level confidence in a more scalable, affordable, and socially wearable form.
