My Sisters (2025)

A triptych created during the month of April also known as Sexual Assault Awareness month, to create a space for difficult conversations.

Process:

In order to achieve a watercolor like effect with acrylic paint I mixed water and matte medium into the paint. This allowed the paint to be super transparent, allowing each layer of color to peak through. The wood panel also seeps through the painting as the paint is so thin.

Learning Outcomes:

This series taught me the importance of recognizing that not everyone will view my work with the same lens that I do. There will be people who misinterpret and misread the entire message of the painting and accepting that this is just something that comes along with creating art.
