When The Waves Go Out

A 2025 digitally illustrated children’s encyclopedia that introduces readers to animals in California’s tide pools. It offers clear facts, simple explanations, and helpful visuals to teach kids about marine life.

Process:

 “When the Waves Go Out” done in Illustration Strategies, is my favorite project to date. Natural science, specifically marine biology, was a childhood fixation and something my family always encouraged me on with books, magazines, aquarium and beach visits, and toys and games. As a kid I loved encyclopedias and informative books with accompanying illustrations and making my book felt like a love letter to the ones I grew up with.
