Day and Night

Two sets of scouts are sent out to recover their alien-plant-infested Earth where the day and night's conditions, such as sunlight and temperature, have been exacerbated.

Process:

With 2 player, shooter-based gameplay in mind, I wanted to develop two characters that communicated their movement and gameplay style while also displaying personality and their contrast with each other. Although I have only designed characters and props for this project, I also did extra development on the world and environment to inform the character costuming and mood. However, I also wanted to add a little stylistic flare to the characters by playing with costume proportions, color, and pattern to create something more whimsical.

Learning Outcomes:

I learned to better develop sci-fi designs and worlds that are not restricted by a cliche/assumption on what the genre should be presented as. I've become more thoughtful in researching past and emerging technologies to create designs that are more intentional and imaginative within the scope of science.
