Album Cover Reimagining

The goal of this project was to take an existing album from any artist and reimagine it in a different movement of art, utilizing the methods used during the period. I chose to take the the Smashing Pumpkins album Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness and create a new design in the style of the 1970s punk movements. Through my research I took inspiration from Jamie Reid and made use of cut and scanned elements as well as photographing a real carved pumpkin.
Learning Outcomes:
From doing this project I learned to utilize striking colors to lead my design in a way that is characteristic of the original punk movement of the 70s to create a mood of angst and rebellion.

A mockup portraying the final reimagining of the popular Smashing Pumpkins album 'Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness' in the style of 1970s punk (inspired by Jamie Reid). After revisiting and finalizing the colorway, the cropping of the cover's elements found many variations until the final mid-way cropping was created.
