Gucci _Phoenix Series Design

Gucci has built a powerful and recognizable luxury identity through its bold visual language, rich ornamentation, and frequent collaborations with artists and designers. Under Alessandro Michele’s direction, the brand became especially known for its maximalist, eclectic, and glamorous aesthetic, transforming fashion products into highly narrative visual experiences.

For this project, I explored how Gucci’s signature ethos could merge with Chinese auspicious symbolism through the motif of the phoenix. The phoenix, as a symbol of prosperity, rebirth, and fortune, became the central visual pattern of the series. By combining Gucci’s decorative richness with Chinese cultural imagery, I developed a new product line that extends across both merchandise and packaging systems.

The phoenix pattern was applied to a range of luxury lifestyle products, including handbags, wallpaper, candles, and cushions, as well as supporting brand materials such as shopping bags, boxes, and receipt envelopes. Through this series, I investigated how cultural symbolism can be translated into a contemporary luxury design language while maintaining coherence across product and packaging experiences.
