CatCafe Lounge is Los Angeles’ only nonprofit cat cafe, combining a café experience with cat rescue and adoption. The space is designed to help guests connect with adoptable cats in a warm, relaxed environment that supports both community and care. This hypothetical rebrand for CatCafe was inspired by my love for cats and my interest in how design can support adoption. I was drawn to the brand’s combination of café culture and cat rescue, and wanted to create a warmer, more welcoming identity that feels calm, healing, and inviting. Through this redesign, I explored how visual identity could help bring more people into the space and give more cats the chance to be seen and adopted.
I designed a soft yet vibrant color pallet for the brand to evoke a sense of healing and gentleness, while also being bright enough to attract families and children. In the design direction of the first poster, the main goal is to introduce CatCafe more clearly and invite people to learn what makes the space unique.I wanted the visual system to convey that the cat cafe is not only cute and charming but also meaningful and cat-centric. In the coffee series posters, I used a more relaxed and casual color palette. I wanted to create a comfortable cafe atmosphere. I extended the cat illustrations I draw to the interior design because I wanted the brand image to blend naturally into the space, creating a more immersive and emotionally resonant environment.
Through this project, I learned how to create a complete identity system that not only feels warm and welcoming, but also helps communicate CatCafe’s mission more clearly and really help the cat.
