Trader Joe's: SunSet

I'll be honest, Trader Joe's wasn't a brand I knew much about going into this project. But that's what made it interesting. I had to learn the brand from scratch and find my own way in. That's how SunSet was born, a fictional sub-brand imagining what Trader Joe's would look like at Coachella. They're both everywhere in California, so the crossover felt like a natural fit. It gave me a way to connect with the brand on my own terms and design packaging that lives somewhere between grocery store and festival grounds.

When I thought about how Trader Joe's would actually advertise SunSet, the Coachella billboards immediately came to mind. They're such an iconic part of the festival experience, so I leaned into that culture and designed a billboard series to promote the sub-brand.

Coachella is full of brand pop ups throughout the festival, so I imagined what it would look like if Trader Joe's actually showed up. I designed a SunSet pop up space where festivalgoers could grab the products, cool down, and experience the sub-brand in person.
