Excrescence

Inspired by Braidotti’s, "Posthuman Knowledge" and Haraway’s, "Staying with the Trouble", this project explores the speculative evolution of biomorphic, AI-integrated organisms that exist in a world where biotechnology has grown beyond human control. Drawing from biomorphic surrealism, the video presents a non-linear meditation on symbiosis, adaptation, and the unintended consequences of techno-organic entanglement.

In this future, AI and organic matter have fused into self-sustaining creatures, hybrid entities with shifting biological and synthetic components. However, instead of flourishing, they begin exhibiting distress signals reminiscent of obsolete programming. They are left to wander the world, purposeless and alone, both dependant on and devastated by humanity.

Using a mix of 3D animation, procedural growth simulations, and microscopic footage of real organic textures, the video avoids traditional narration. Instead, it builds a speculative landscape where machine learning driven evolution unfolds in eerie, dreamlike, and distorted patterns, challenging our assumptions about intelligence, adaptation, and the ethics of creation.
