Book of Being

A jewelry diary teaching adolescents how to discover their being.

Process:

This jewelry diary contains all of the jewelry I have made before and during my time in creating my company, Missfit Doll. This does not only works as a brand book, but also contains lessons I have personally a learned when discovering how to express with my own aesthetic. This book is for my audience who are in between discovering who they are and what their style can be if they learn to unpeel their layers of identity.

 

With my audience being girls between the ages 8-25 yrs old, I did not just want to rely on my photography, but engage in the language that they gravitate towards naturally. So with illustrations and bar-coded media style, the final book functions as a concept brand novel with illustrative storytelling.

Learning Outcomes:

The book couldn't be an art piece on every page. It needed to be a system for viewers to engage and follow through, start to finish. There were times when I had to reduce everything to the bare bones in order to respect the previous system I had placed. With creating books, consistency wins the pages.
