Black Artist Research Space, Juneteenth 2021

Freelance project for the Black Artist Research Space in D.C. in recognition of Juneteenth. Inspired by American Artist's critical inquiry in their essay "Black Gooey Universe" which dives into the history of the Graphical User Interface (GUI) and its role in contemporary racial issues in America. This project was designed and developed to look and feel like a computer terminal, an homage to the original computer interface and a rejection of the idea of white as neutral in the GUI.
Learning Outcomes:
This was my first time working on a project for a non-profit organization with a mission for social impact, reporting directly to the co-founder. I learned how to apply abstract cultural topics into designed materials with the goal of making a visual arguments; technical communication with people that may not understand technical terms; responsive web development; responsive web design; HTML/CSS/JS.
