Welded Wire Forms: Structure in Nature as a Strategy for Design
In this project, we need to research a natural construction that we interest and incorporate the structures/patterns into the wire form. When I started to conceive the project I wanted to make the form of a flower. When I started welded wire, I found that it could be many different forms, a ballerina, a butterfly or a blooming flower. I make my wire work more dynamic through 3d form. What’s interesting is that the shadow makes the work more dynamic and layered.
Learning Outcomes:
During the critique, there is a discussion about the combination of overlapping and intertwined wires. I think this taught me how the layers work effect the design. Also, I learned how the materiality, texture, movement, scale, detail, pattern, space, movement, and light effect the work.
