New Korean Cinema

For this project, we were asked to watch a couple of Korean films from a list provided by the instructor, capture screenshots during the films, then incorporate those images into a 22 x 33 in poster design. One of the movies I watched was a Tale of Two Sisters, a film that follows the tumultuous mental health journey of an adolescent girl who comes home after spending time in a psychiatric ward.
Learning Outcomes:
In the process of creating this poster, I chose to explore the ways in which I can visually convey the complexity of mental health issues in a way that is sophisticated and artistic. The film is shot in a beautiful and simple way, and I wanted to carry this feeling through within my poster. Mental health issues, as shown in this thriller / horror film, can generate a profound sense of emptiness, despair, and eeriness in our everyday lives. This is what I wanted to visually communicate.
