We made 30 different logos to explore concepts for a type conference identity. I liked mixing two different typefaces to play with the concept of harmony and balance, so I went with this particular identity. The challenge I had was in balancing these huge letterforms across the page while keeping it legible.
Learning Outcomes:
This the first time I designed at such a large size. I had to think a lot about not overpowering the detail type with type as image treatment. And this was the first time I designed black and white at the same time, needing both to be balanced enough to be used. There was also a lot of learning in designing in such a narrow composition, fitting everything in a good size while keeping good negative space. Finally, I learned how I can split a word across a composition (by doing it in syllables).
