Principles of Motion Design

When: FA22. Each week we are to animate a given motion design principle. This animation should be based on some observation in our every day life during the week. In class we critiqued everyone’s work, and found new ways to enhance core ideas each week. We were restricted to using abstract shapes, three colors, and exactly five seconds for each principle. I chose green, brown, and off-white to give a nod to my hometown of Seattle and the beautiful evergreen trees of Washington state.
Learning Outcomes:
Aaron’s class is pushing me to think more conceptually about my work. Some of my initial animations for this project were quite literal interpretations of my observations. I feel my strongest piece is still the first one (mass) because I was just far enough from the idea of a ceiling fan, yet still inspired my its movement. The bonus was a review of Adobe AfterEffects and best practices for the motion design process.
