My name is Frankie Guzman, and I am a visual development artist and illustrator based in Los Angeles, California. Before coming to ArtCenter I was solely a character designer, but now I see myself as a storyteller. I enjoy developing stories the most and always strive to tell one in every piece I make. Even when it comes to a prop or background, I think a narrative can be told through design. I treat them like characters, with their own mood and origin. It gives the subject purpose and an extra layer of depth that I need in my art. I aspire to work in the animation and game industry, telling stories that I want to tell and think need to be told. I hope to explore other areas of art in the future as I am always looking to broaden my skillset. Continuing my experience with freelance illustration is also an ideal, because I love working with people and getting new projects to work on. Outside of illustration I enjoy playing and writing music, often writing songs or poems that go with my art and creating images that go with my songs. In everything I do, a story must be present, it’s what fuels me to create.
