About
Kaiyi Tan holds an MFA in Media Design Practices from ArtCenter College of Design in the United States, where he achieved a 3.92/4.0 GPA. He previously earned his bachelor’s degree in Product Design and Manufacture at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China. Through multiple internships and academic projects, Kaiyi has extensively applied user-centered design thinking and obtained Google UX Design certification, further honing standardized design workflows across iOS, Android, and web platforms.
In his work, Kaiyi excels at weaving together user research, user flows, wireframes, and mid-to-high-fidelity prototypes, infusing each stage of product development with empathy and an innovative perspective. His projects focus on both usability and aesthetic appeal, leveraging storyboards, models, and various design tools to effectively communicate concepts and enable cross-team collaboration. Additionally, he has front-end coding experience, enabling him to seamlessly bridge design and development, from concept to implementation.
Notably, Kaiyi is also an accomplished pianist and composer. Outside of his design work, he devotes significant time to music, incorporating artistic inspiration into his understanding of user experience. His graduate thesis centered on creating a system that breaks traditional barriers to music composition, allowing individuals without a professional music background to actively participate in and enjoy the creative process. This not only reflects his keen insight into user needs but also showcases his passion for making the art of creation accessible to more people.
Armed with diverse professional skills and an unwavering commitment to user experience, Kaiyi continues to expand both the breadth and depth of his design practice, building more intuitive and meaningful connections between products and their users.
