Misery & Majesty, Investigating Black Identity

"Misery & Majesty" explores black identity through works by Kerry James Marshall, Arthur Jafa, Kara Walker, Yinka Shonibare, Lorna Simpson, and Wangechi Mutu. As curator and designer, the aim is a unified visual language across all materials. This intentional focus on black identity sparks critical discussions and invites viewers to challenge norms and consider rebellion's consequences.
Learning Outcomes:
In exploring 'blackness,' I honed my skills to shape ideas into tangible expressions. Curating "Misery & Majesty" nurtured significant growth across diverse art aspects—discovery, narrative, art direction, and more. This immersive process fused conceptual thinking, storytelling, and visual design to prompt profound contemplation on the complexities within the black experience.
