Accessible Pathways  & Cultural Narratives:  A Holistic Approach to Lower Arroyo Seco

A project reimagining the Lower Arroyo Seco as an inclusive, educational, and culturally resonant space by integrating:

  • Wider hoggin-surfaced slopes for improved accessibility
  • Seeds of the Seco: A Gabrielino Garden of Stories, a living fence gallery celebrating and reviving Native culture.
  • Land Stewardship principles ensuring ecological and social accountability
Process:

The process for this project required all of the elements of what consists of a great design process, empathy, define, ideation etc. I broke my leg and that was not going to stop me. In fact I was able to experience the design and approach it from first hand experience of what is like to navigate nature with limited mobility.

Learning Outcomes:

Trails for All changed my perspective in how I See, Feel and Experience nature. ~ Alejandra C
