Video Game Concept Art

This was a project we were given where we had received prompts for characters of varying stories and industries. The prompt I received was a character who flew drones from a database in order to communicate and supply good for soldiers and refugees, intended for a video game.

I took this project as an opportunity to pull from the long time influence throwback CAPCOM games and their artists have had on me. It's something I always wanted to do, but never seen the right opportunity. I interpreted this prompt as a younger character, using the information given as a backstory to influence the characters design, not his gameplay. The art is inspired by long time CAPCOM greats, like Kinu NIshimura and Bengus.

Process:

The character went through many different iterations, and was redrawn fully 3 times before I had landed on his set style, proportions, colors, and design. The prompt's name was, "Wild-Cat Mike," so it seemed the intent was originally for the character to be quite intense. Getting a adolescent type character to a happy medium was a major part of the challenge.
