My Secret World

A book cover designed to communicate a secret habit, opinion, or fear of the designer through symbolism. For this project I chose to use my personal fear of running out of time and death. While initially coming up with the idea of photographing architecture figurines being "drowned" by sand spilling out of a broken hour glass, Guillaume encouraged me to pursue analog photography but avoid using a cliché symbol for time such as an hour glass.
Learning Outcomes:
This project was my first attempt at designing any book cover, therefore I learned a lot about the logistics of it, such as measuring the book size, and how to easily design it to precise measurement through InDesign, in one printout. Perhaps more valuable, however, I learned the power of using analog strategies to achieve the visuals you want but cannot create digitally, as well as to avoid certain clichés as often times it is not even needed to communicate the same message.
