William Eggleston and The Real World title sequence

As well as a title sequence for the documentary “William Eggleston in the Real World” (2005), this project is a homage to William Eggleston's photography. It's a technical exploration for how light and color can be leveraged in 3D animation to elevate mundane scenes into beautiful compositions. The sequence follows levitating objects as a through-line to connect the various environments I recreated from his photos.

Learning Outcomes:

This project was my introduction to working with naturalistic lighting in C4D. It took several passes for each environment to get the lighting and color to look close enough to the reference photo. Working on this helped me overcome technical challenges such as working with realistic texturing, hdri’s and caustics.
