(TASK—personal packaging design that is mindful of sustainability) Given the task with a focus on sustainability, I looked at events that generated a lot of waste as a starting point. As a former cross country runner, marathons and their excessive waste came to mind. By imagining a solution for this problem, I was designing packaging, but also a new system that redefined the distribution and supply of marathon equipment.
Learning Outcomes:
problem solving: starting with a problem and working backwards. synthesizing research: collecting data + case studies related to project. designing for physical models + prototyping: many trials and errors with designing, printing, cutting, pasting for physical mockups
