Pink Flamingos of Capitalism
Based on Jennifer Price's "The Plastic Pink Flamingo," this poster highlights the mass consumerism and production boom of the 1960s, through the trendy plastic pink flamingo. To relate this concept from the past to today, I collected personal receipts to consider my individual role in today's consumerist society.
Learning Outcomes:
How to relate an essay and its lessons into a more visual and graphic poster. Pulling key concepts and terms into headlines on a poster. This project was my introduction into letterpress, and I navigated this new media. Sorting through type, setting type, and printing each and every edition of a print manually taught me to value the nuances and history of typography.
