Mobility of waste: System design for informal waste pickers in India

This thesis aims to critically analyze the interaction between formal and informal waste management systems in Mumbai and to identify opportunities for more cohesive integration. The scope of this study includes examining the roles of informal stakeholders—ragpickers, kabadiwalas, and recycling shops—as well as evaluating existing municipal policies and initiatives like the Swachh Bharat Mission
