Worlds strongest athletes

An in-process 135ft mural commissioned by UCSD. This piece features a community of athletes who overcome physical and social challenges in a space made for inclusivity and accessibility.
Learning Outcomes:
This is my largest commissioned piece so far. Much of what I have learned is about advocating for myself as a freelance artist, navigating payment technicalities, customer critiques, and communicating a complicated concept. On a public UC campus, this piece is highly controversial and I learned how to address homophobia/transphobia as well as discrimination in a professional setting. Additionally, time management is a key role in taking on such a large project while in the MGX program

The wall is roughly 8 ft x 17 ft. It is located in a hallway that leads to non-gender conforming and accessible locker rooms full with ADA showers. Although all-gender restrooms exist, this is the first space on campus that provides ADA accessible showers and changing rooms as well as private changing places for those that do not feel comfortable in gendered locker rooms. The goal of this piece is to create a conversation about the spaces that para-athletes hold and create a conversation about how to better support and include trans and nonbinary athletes
