New Korean Cinema Poster
This was a poster where the challenge was to work out a composition that works well both as a standalone poster and as a brochure when french-folded into 12 segments. The subject was "New Korean Cinema" where the poster needed to be an appropriate advertisement for an upcoming festival. I tried a number of approaches with the image and type, eventually landing on using a single full-bleed image with the type reacting to the "reflective" imagery.
Learning Outcomes:
I learned about considering type as it will be seen at multiple distances and how that affects decisions on type size and proximity. I'm more accustomed to going big with type on all poster layouts, but sometimes small type can be a useful texture when seen from afar, even if it isn't all fully legible.
