ACX - Hospitality Rebrand
For this ACX class (Spring 2021), we were assigned the task of rebranding an existing hotel or resort. I chose the Northern Lights Resort & Spa, a remote resort located in the Yukon Territory of Canada. Following my decision to rename the resort to Yukon Lights (to reflect the location of the resort), I began redesigning the logo of the resort. As the course progressed, we also had the opportunity to design postcards, a look book, and numerous product mockups that are hospitality-oriented.
Learning Outcomes:
I learned: 1) That a design that you don't initially use / choose can always find a more appropriate use further on in a project. A logo concept I didn't choose ultimately ended up being a concept I used for postcard designs. 2) The importance of simplicity in generating a logo design. This is to ensure its memorability and timelessness. 3) The importance of pacing and sequential planning in editorial design 4) Mockups are so fun! This was my first time creating them.
