arboretum of l.a. county

The Arboretum of Los Angeles County (formerly known as the Los Angeles County Arboretum & Botanical Gardens) is a botanical garden and historical site located in Arcadia. It currently lives in the shadows of competitors like the Huntington and Descanso Gardens, and is largely frequented by the elderly and young children. The goal of this hypothetical rebrand was to target young adult audiences and implement event programming initiatives that fuse environmental education and entertainment.
Learning Outcomes:
Early on in the project, I experimented with various analog methods of production to inform my formal exploration. This included drawing, watercolor painting, and collage-making (see process photos). It wasn't until later on in the term that I was inspired by the four seasons, which led to the development of a flexible logo system. The word mark remains the same, but each season imbues the word mark with a unique logo and color palette.
