Lost LA Social Media Post

The assignment was to create a social media carousel post that builds upon the visual and conceptual narratives that were raised in our logo rebrand, booklet, and triptych designs. The goal of this assignment was to learn how to harness our personal voice through the creation of a post that employs harmonious visual transitions and is tailored towards an appropriate communications audience.
Learning Outcomes:
1. How to use connective elements to create continuity throughout the course of an entire carousel post. 2. The importance of making information digestible and attention-grabbing, as social media scrollers often have short attention spans. 3. The role that copywriting plays in creating effective social media posts.

Mockup - Social Media Carousel My solution is designed to increase public awareness of environmental education issues that directly pertain to residents of Los Angeles. This is accomplished through the incorporation of concise, yet surprising facts about the plants, animals and climate of southern California. Building upon the concepts raised in the first three projects of the term, this social media carousel post is ultimately designed to convey the message that learning about the natural environment does not have to be depressing. Within the realm of social media, many fear the ease with which false information can be spread. However, on these platforms, there is also the opportunity to rapidly spread information worth sharing; information that serves to empower and motivate its viewers. The desired result of my social media carousel post is to share information that persuades Angelenos to gain a heightened appreciation for their natural locale, and to understand that human beings and nature aren’t as separate as many of us think.
