Plus 81
Each week, we created 45 pages of magazine cover designs using the title, sub-head and body copy provided by our professor. Over the course of eight weeks, we progressed from only being able to use one size (8 pt) and one weight to arrange the text, to eventually being able to use any size, any weight, imagery, rules, bars, and transparency tools. The works provided are from the last iteration of this project.
Learning Outcomes:
I learned: 1) The role that the size and weight of type play in creating the illusion of space and depth. 2) The ways in which type can be aligned to created points of connection between separate elements. 3) The role that hierarchy plays in typography, and how to employ it. 4) The role that color plays in generating a particular emotion or mood.
