Typo Berlin
For this project, we were asked to first create a custom logotype for Typo Berlin (a hypothetical type conference), then create a 3 ft x 6 ft poster that features the logotype with other details about the event (including typographers, date, location, time, website).
Learning Outcomes:
I decided to create a logotype that was fun, playful and a little weird -- just like the city of Berlin. I specifically wanted to focus on type as abstract shape, which I achieved through selectively filling in the counters of various letterforms in the logotype. These shapes then informed the graphic language of the posters, as I incorporate them as both symbols and decorative elements. This project allowed me to appreciate the graphic and functional capabilities of typography.
