Kinship

Kinship is a media and technology company reconnecting humans to nature. Born from a desire to examine the atrophy of human imagination, Kinship began as a participatory design experiment: a custom card game that invited 120 strangers to co-imagine futures together. It has since evolved into an ecosystem of products and stories, all aimed at shifting us away from interfacing with information — and toward interfacing with the natural world.
Learning Outcomes:
Human imagination is embodied. It relies on the orchestration of our bodies through space—on tactile, sensuous experiences offered by our environments. In this, we find kinship: a deepened relationship to the world. Yet as our interactions are sterilized by the rectangular, industrial paradigm of modern devices, our connection to the sensory world atrophies—and so does our capacity to imagine alternative ways of being.
