An ecology poster giving an overview of the plants and animals that make up the chaparral habitat our school is built upon, created with colored pencil and digital media
During my time here at ArtCenter, I have been conducting my own survey of the 165 acre chaparral Hillside Campus property. I spent a lot of time documenting the plants and animals I saw there, and even set up trail cameras to capture coyote activity. Using my own research and data from the community science website Inaturalist.org, I wanted to create an "ecology poster" that gives a basic overview of the nature that can be found around Hillside. I believe it is a richly biodiverse place, and people deserve to be educated about the land their school is built upon.
I wanted a piece in my portfolio that demonstrates my knowledge of the natural world, and that could be right at home in a museum exhibit. I also wanted to bring more attention to the ecology of Hillside Campus, so that it can be better protected. I also just love to draw animals!
